Receiver is a multipurpose electroacoustic device intended
for use as a musical instrument, divinatory medium, and interface for
investigating Electronic Voice Phenomenon. As a project and platform for aural
exploration, it is as equally inspired by the creative misuse of consumer
electronics as it is by the magical worldview persisting around
electromagnetism. Retuning, transistor realignment, general maintenance, and
modifications in this spirit are encouraged. The device was created as part of a broader project during a residency at Elsewhere Artist Collaborative, where it remains. Updates on the full endeavor to follow. Thanks to Jessie Martin for these photos.
